NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - A car wash fundraiser for the Benway family is planned Saturday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Advance Auto Parts, 277 Church Street.
The charge for a wash and dry is $4 and includes a free hot dog and drink with a donation jar nearby.
According to police, Owen Benway, 9, of Oxford, was shot in the head by his father, Daryl Benway, on July 28. His 7-year-old sister Abigail was killed, and after the attack, Daryl Benway turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
Owen and his mother Kelleen have family in Northbridge who have arranged the fundraiser.
Owen remains hospitalized at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, but is out of intensive care and is improving, a family member said.
