If there's one thing every kitchen needs it's a sharp knife. Or maybe a set of sharp knives. Tucked away off the beaten track in Norwalk, Conn. you'll find all the knives you need at the Wüsthof outlet store, which used to be located in Ossining, NY.
Andrea Arnold, the manager, says people come from as far away as New Jersey and Massachusetts to shop for bargains. "Everything is 40 to 70 percent off retail," she says. "We sell overstock, discontinued and display items."
Wüsthof is a seventh generation family-owned company based in Solingen, Germany. You'll find Wüsthof products, which include knives, cutting boards, knife blocks and utensils, at William Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond and Sur la Table.
My personal Wüsthof favorites are the kitchen shears ($3.99) and the combo knife and scissor sharpener ($4.99).
