The Shrewsbury Seventh-day Adventist Church is pleased to announce an upcoming free community concert by world renowned violinist, Jaime Jorge, on Saturday, Sep. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the Ray Stone Post, 2 School Street.
Jaime Jorge! His forceful, expressive mastery of the violin has delighted audiences around the globe. Born in Cuba in 1970, Jaime began violin studies at age five. When he was ten, Jaime’s family immigrated to the United States and he began lessons with the eminent violinist Cyrus Forough, a student of the great David Oistrakh. Jaime’s mom wanted him to be a violinist, but he dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor. When he entered college in 1988, he began to take all the pre-med courses necessary in order to prepare to go to Medical School. In 1993, Jaime was accepted into the University Of Illinois Medical School, but into his second year of Medical School, Jaime felt impressed to leave to use his God-given musical talents.
From High School auditoriums to magnificent cathedrals, from simple church programs to Carnegie Hall and The Lincoln Center, Jaime’s music can inspire, uplift, and bring peace. Whether teaching a workshop/Master Class, as a university instructor, or as a performer playing for as many as 60,000 people, Jaime touches people’s hearts, and all are drawn to this young man and his violin. For over two decades, through 15 albums and more than 2,500 concerts in 5 continents and over 40 countries, Jaime’s music has touched the lives of millions. It can touch yours too.
