NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Orange was the color and mellow the tone of the day Wednesday at the Northbridge Senior Center.
The Mellow Tones, a choral group from the Hopkinton Senior Center, entertained with songs from the past, including Halloween songs they’d learned in grade school.
Its director, Marilyn Greeno, said the group’s goal was to make people smile – and they did. But those smiles erupted into belly laughs when Greeno and Howard Rouse – who left the room for a moment and returned dressed as monster and witch – sang a duet, assuring, “I love you just the way you are.’’
The Mellow Tones is made up of seniors from around the Blackstone Valley and includes Uxbridge resident Gail Beuhler, who is the group’s pianist.
About 25 people attended the event, and prizes were awarded to audience members who wore the most orange.
Halloween will be celebrated at the Senior Center Thursday, with visitors encouraged to dress in costume, watch the movie “Beetlejuice’’ and eat “wormy cake.’’
The party begins at 12:45 p.m.
