NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – A special town meeting highlights events in Northbridge this week. On Tuesday, voters will be asked to make a decision on the future of the town’s Department of Public Works. For more to do, visit our Events page. 

Monday, Dec. 3

Earth Removal Board Meeting 6 p.m. Memorial town Hall, 7 Main St., Whtinsville

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Senior Citizens and Friends Luncheon. 11:30 a.m. Shepherd’s pie, seasonal vegetables, dinner roll, apple crisp, and coffee, tea or milk will be served. $3.50. Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Jingle and Mingle. 5:30 p.m. Free admission with toy donation for Blackstone Valley Family Services. Members $10; nonmembers $20. Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce at the Grafton Inn, 25 on the Common, Grafton.

Special Town Meeting. 7 p.m. Northbridge Middle School, 171 Linwood Ave., Whtinsville.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

Knitting and Needlework. 6 p.m. New and experienced knitters invited to join the group. Whitinsville Social Library.

Northbridge Parent Teacher Association. 7 p.m. Balmer and Northbridge Elementary School parents are encouraged to attend. Northbridge Elementary School on Cross Street.

Thursday, Dec. 6

Story and Craft Time. 10 a.m. For toddlers age 2 and up. Whitinsville Social Library.

Local author Ken Amidon. 7 p.m. Amidon will talk about his new book "Stray Threads," a mystery/romance set in Portland, Maine, in 1977. His focus will be on the process of creating his book. Free and open to the public. Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing. Whitinsville Social Library, Church Street.

Student Council Movie Night 6:30 p.m. Northbridge High School Student Council will show the Movie 'Christmas Vacation. Free admission; money raised through the sale of refreshments will be donated to Michael DeLuca who travels to South Korea next year to compete in the Special Olympics.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Girl Scouts Caring Tree. 8 a.m. to noon. Northbridge Girl Scouts Cadette Troop 11530 will trim the holiday tree with donations of hats, mittens, gloves, socks and scarves for those in need. Refreshments will be served. On the Whitinsville Town Common.

Santa Claus Visit. 10 a.m. to noon. The Blackstone Valley Children's Place staff will host games, crafts, dancing, and art in the gymnasium while children wait for their visit with Santa. Free and open to the public. Whitin Community Center on Main Street.

Christmas-themed Arts and Crafts. 1 to 2 p.m. The free event is open to children ages 12 and under. Space is limited so reservations are requested by calling Monique Boucher, director of Outreach, at 508-234-0272. Whitin Community Center on Main Street

Christmas Concert 7 p.m. Northbridge Village Congregational Church, 25 Church St.
