What To Do In Northbridge This Week

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – It’s a short week for town and school employees with the celebration Monday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Despite that, the week is crowded with sporting events and municipal meetings, capped with an open mic Saturday at Village Congregational Church.

Monday, Jan. 21

Schools and municipal buildings closed:
  Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Northbridge girls’ varsity basketball: 7 p.m., vs. Auburn High School at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

Senior Center entertainment:
12:45 p.m. The Worcester Trinity Symphonette, under the direction of Lee Bartlet,t will perform at the Senior Center. Lunch is available at 11:45 a.m.

Northbridge Board of Health: 7 p.m., Town Hall Annex, 14 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Northbridge School Committee: 7 p.m. Northbridge High School media center, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Northbridge boys’ varsity basketball: 7 p.m., vs. Auburn High School at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Divorce recovery support group: 6:30 p.m. For men and women who are separated or divorced and living single again. A complementary program for children ages 5-12, called DivorceCare for Kids, happens concurrently with the adult program. Free and open to all at Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

Northbridge boys’ and girls’ varsity indoor track:
5:30 p.m., vs. Millbury Junior/Senior High School at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Knitting and Needlework: 6 p.m. New and experienced knitters are invited to join the group at Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St.

Thursday, Jan. 24

Healthy Living Committee of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce
: 8 a.m., Whitin Community Center conference room, 60 Main St. The event is free.

: 4:30 p.m., vs. Shrewsbury at Whitin Community Center, 60 Main St., Whitinsville.

Winter hike at Purgatory Chasm: 1 p.m., hosted by the Blackstone River Watershed Association. This free event will be a moderate 1.5-mile hike. 

Coffee House Open Mic: 6:30 p.m., Village Congregational Church, Church St., Whitinsville. The public is welcome and musicians are encouraged to share their talent. Refreshments will be served.
