What To Do In Northbridge This Week

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – The Northbridge Public School District continues its pre-school lottery this week, free tax assistance is offered at the senior center Monday and chocolate and art lovers are invited Saturday to a Blackstone Valley Art Association show opening at the Whitinsville Social Library.

Monday, Feb. 4
Income tax assistance:
9 a.m. to noon. AARP tax preparers will be at the senior center, 20 Highland St, from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday through April 1. The service is free. Call 508-234-2002 for more information.

Northbridge Elementary pre-school lottery: Enrollment in the lottery will be Feb. 1-28. To be placed in the lottery, stop into the main office of the school on Cross Street between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The program serves 3- and 4-year-old children.

NHS girls’ varsity basketball: 7 p.m. Northbridge vs. Uxbridge at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave.

Tuesday, Feb. 5
Internet Safety Program:
7-8 p.m. The Northbridge Public School system will host an Internet Safety Program for parents in the Northbridge High School media center, 427 Linwood Ave. The program is open to parents of children in grades 2-12.

Coffee Break Bible Study: 9:30 a.m. Participants do not have to know anything about the Bible to participate. Programs and child care provided for pre-school children. Call 508-234-4902 or visit www.pscrc.org. Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Divorce recovery support group: 6:30 p.m. For men and women who are separated or divorced and living single again. A complementary program for children ages 5-12, called DivorceCare for Kids, happens concurrently with the adult program. Free and open to all at Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

NHS coed varsity indoor track: 5:30 p.m. Multiple opponents at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Wednesday, Feb. 6
Council on Aging:
9 a.m. The council's policy review subcommittee will meet at the senior center, 20 Highland St., Whitinsville.

Knitting and Needlework: 6 p.m. New and experienced knitters are invited to join the group at Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St.

Alumni basketball game: 7 p.m. The first annual Northbridge High School Basketball Alumni game will be in the Veterans Memorial Field House to raise money for the Kenneth Baker Memorial Scholarship. The cost is $3 for spectators.

All Men's Chorus performance: 12:45 p.m. The All Men's Chorus of Worcester Trinity Symphonette Ensemble will entertain following lunch at the Senior Center, 20 Highland St.

Thursday, February 7
Fourth grade celebration planning meeting:
7 p.m. All fourth-grade parents of Balmer School students are invited to a planning meeting for the 4th Grade Celebration at the Whitinsville Social Library. Call Lisa at 508-234-2692 for more information.

Story and Craft Time: 10 a.m. Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St. Toddlers ages 2 and older. The event is free.

Special Education PAC to meet: 7 p.m. The Northbridge Special Education Advisory Council hosts a presentation on 18- and 22-year-old transitions and day/employment options at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave.

Choco-L-Art show by the Blackstone Valley Art Association:
10 a.m. The Blackstone Valley Art Association opens its second Choco-L-Art show at the Whitinsville Social Library. The event continues through Feb. 16. The opening, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes a free chocolate tasting..

Valentine crafts at Whitin Community Center: 1 p.m. Kids 12 and under can get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day with arts and crafts at  a free event sponsored by the center's Youth Outreach. To register, contact Monique Boucher at Monique.Boucher@Ourgym.org or 508-234-8184, ext. 121.
