What To Do In Northbridge This Weekend

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – The annual Scarefest at Whitin Community Center is planned Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A layer of scare for all age groups is offered.

This weekend also offers a tour of the Northbridge Department of Public Works and a chance to help clean up the banks of Blackstone Valley riverways.

Saturday, Oct. 20

Department of Public Works Open House: 10 a.m. to noon. The Northbridge Department of Public Works will have an open house and tour at the DPW facility, 11 Fletcher St., Whitinsville. The public is invited to tour the buildings and learn what the department does. For more information, call 508-234-3581.

Scarefest: 5:30-8:30 p.m. The Whitin Community Center, under the direction of Outreach Director Moniique Boucher, plans three separate hauntings - a Pumpkin Patch for the wee folk, a Creepy Crypt for a light scare and the Haunted Halls for a real fright. Cost is $5 per person.

Sunday, Oct. 21

Blackstone Valley Riverways Cleanup: 1-3 p.m. The 6th annual Blackstone Valley Riverways Cleanup will be conducted and volunteers are needed. Possible sites for this year's clean up include: River Bend Farm, Uxbridge; Plummers Landing, Northbridge; River Road, Uxbridge; Fisherville Dam, Grafton; Blackstone Gorge, Blackstone. To volunteer or to report a site that needs cleaning, call the group's office at 508-278-5200 or email events@thebrwa.org.
