NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – A pinewood derby, a winter hike at Purgatory Chasm and an open mic for musicians at Village Congregational Church highlight events this weekend in Northbridge.
Friday, Jan. 25
Northbridge boys’ varsity basketball: 7 p.m. Northbridge vs. Uxbridge High School at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.
Northbridge/Grafton coed swim team: 4:30 p.m. Northbridge vs. Shrewsbury at Whitin Community Center, 60 Main St., Whitinsville.
Saturday, Jan. 26
Pinewood Derby: Northbridge Cub Scouts holds a pinewood derby at Memorial Town Hall, 7 Main St., Whitinsville, beginning at 8 a.m.
Northbridge Youth Softball registration: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Whitin Community Center, 60 Main St., Whitinsville.
Winter hike at Purgatory Chasm: 1 p.m. Hosted by the Blackstone River Watershed Association, this free event will be a moderate 1.5-mile hike.
Coffee House Open Mic: 6:30 p.m. Village Congregational Church, Church St., Whitinsville. The public is welcome and musicians are encouraged to share their talent. Refreshments will be served.
Sunday, Jan. 27
Pancake breakfast: The First Night Committee of Uxbridge holds its first fund raiser of the new year at Good Shepherd Church, Church Street, from 7 to 11 a.m. Tickets are $6 for the all-you-can-eat menu.
