NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Love was in the air at the Northbridge Senior Center on Wednesday, thanks to John Root and Northbridge Brownie Troop 30383.
A grant from the Northbridge Cultural Council made a performance by Root possible at the Senior Center. He serenaded the audience with songs from the 1920s to the 1950s.
With saxophone, clarinet, flute and sometimes just his voice, Root entertained with songs, some his audience hadn’t heard in years, and he had them singing along.
Root is a musician, naturalist and educator and offers several programs including one on butterflies, which Program Director Jeannine Dionne hopes to bring to the center this summer.
The center was decorated with murals colored by members of Brownie Troop 30383 and left with Valentine’s Day cards made by the youngsters.
