NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Ground will be broken on Canal Street in Blackstone Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. on segment one on the Massachusetts side of a bikeway along the Blackstone River and Canal between Providence, R.I. and Worcester, MA.

The public is invited to join Sen. Richard T. Moore, members of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor and Massachusetts DCR Officials for the Blackstone River Greenway/Bike Trail at the event.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation Services (DCR) has been working to establish a bike trail along the Massachusetts portion of the East Coast Greenway. After many years of study to determine how best to establish this bike trail while minimizing impacts on nearby natural resources, work has begun to repair bridges in Segment 1 of the Blackstone River Bike system.

Canal Street is north of St. Paul Street in Blackstone.
