The $4 million bridge reconstruction project began in the spring of 2011 and was scheduled for completion this month. An alleged dispute with a contractor stalled the work for months.

Requests for information from the state Department of Transportation have been unsuccessful, but Northbridge Department of Works Director James Shuris estimates the project is about a year behind schedule.

A completion date of summer 1212 remains on DOT’s website. The project is 26 percent complete, according to the website.

The new bridge will be 32 feet wide, with a 5-foot sidewalk on the east side.

The project was on the books and planned before the restaurant got bought so it should not have been a huge surprise. The delay was do to the river bed not allowing the sheeting to go in as designed and they had to design a new system

Once the bridge is finished who is Laurienn's and the rest of Rockdale going to blame for lack of business? I suppose the Chef could take the blame for the under cooked chicken, wilted rotten salads and cold food and I guess the Rockdale residents who would rather cry poverty instead of spending mony on Town repairs could also take their share of the blame but then again why take responsibility it's so much easier to blame some one or some thing else.

It is not Rockdale's fault, the fault is much way bigger then Rockdale.

'GREED' may now be the watch word in this great Nation, we have lost it takes a Village to build a Community and a Nation.

We spend $16 Trillion Dollars to bail out the Wall Street Crowd, But Social Security and Medicare is going broke, .lol. Big Corporate Money may now influence Elections because Corporations are people...lol

Tax Subsidy for Oil Company's from the Tax Payers while they make record profits, Two Questionable Wars put on the Nation's Charge Card, Trillions in Foreign Aid while our Schools, States, and Infrastructure slip into Third World status.

It's a far way bigger problem then just Rockdale in my opinion.

I can't imagine the harm this has done to the local businesses.

Just A Guy:

Rockdale consider yourselves to be extremely lucky to have that project open to two way traffic by the Fall of 2013. Judging by Rocchio's other projects in Uxbridge and Millville in all probability...............it won't be fully completed till early 2014.
