NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – After months of inactivity, construction has resumed on the Ross J. Rajotte Memorial Bridge on Rte. 122 (Providence Road) in Rockdale.
The $4 million bridge reconstruction project began in the spring of 2011 and was scheduled for completion this month. An alleged dispute with a contractor stalled the work for months.
Requests for information from the state Department of Transportation have been unsuccessful, but Northbridge Department of Works Director James Shuris estimates the project is about a year behind schedule.
A completion date of summer 1212 remains on DOT’s website. The project is 26 percent complete, according to the website.
The new bridge will be 32 feet wide, with a 5-foot sidewalk on the east side.
