NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Fans of the musical will get a chance to enjoy a live production later this month when DreamPlay Theatre presents “The Light in the Piazza’’ at the Singh Performance Center, Alternatives’ Whitin Mill, 60 Douglas Rd., Whitinsville.
Shows will be Aug. 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 19 and 26 at 2 p.m.
The story of a young American tourist traveling with her mother who meets and falls for a young Italian is set in Florence and Rome in 1953.
DreamPlay Theatre is run by its founder, independent artist Lydian DeVere Yard, a singer and actress whose roots in community theater run deep. She will perform the role of Clara in the Alternatives' offering.
According to its website, "DreamPlay aims to produce one theatrical production a year in residence at Alternatives. DreamPlay wants to use theater as a means of providing quality entertainment, while raising awareness and funds for organizations like Alternatives, that help an underserved, lower income population make their dreams come true.
Tickets are $20, $18 for seniors, and are available at dreamplaytheatre.com.
