NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Fire Chief Gary Nestor issued a warning today that someone is trying to scam residents by calling to say they're raising funds for the Northbridge Fire Department.
"This is not true,'' he said.
Nestor said the department received several calls today reporting the phone calls soliciting money for the Fire Department. "We are not having a fund raiser at this time and anyone receiving these calls should call either the Police or Fire Department,'' Nestor said.
"None of the money being solicited will be coming to the Northbridge Fire Department. If we do have a fund raiser in the future we will advertise beforehand,'' the fire chief noted.
