NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – The Northbridge High School swim team, composed of students from Northbridge and Grafton, is closing in on the end of its season and it’s been the best one yet, said coach Denise Foster.

“We won four dual meets and placed ninth in the Mid-Wach League,’’ she said.

She recapped team member standings:

  • Colby Foster

1st for 100 back and 3rd 50 free
Heading to sectionals and states for the 50 and 100 Free

  • Brian Brennan

2nd 200 free

  • Alyssa Murray

Placed 6th in 100 Breastroke and made it to the sectionals. Missed the state cut time by 1/100th of a second but still has a chance to make it; if she does, she will be the first girl swimmer to attend states for girls' swimming

  • Rob Ekberg ended his four-year career with a bang. He qualified for sectionals in two events, 3rd in the 100 free and 6th in the 50 free. He wants to continue swimming in college and he will be the first for Northbridge to do that. “It is an honor as a coach knowing you have steered a high school student in that direction,” Foster said.
