WEBSTER, Mass. - Laurence E. “Larry” Batchelder, 64, died Monday, Nov. 12 at UMass Memorial in Worcester after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne (Tancrell) Batchelder; his five children, Tina Jones of Oil City, PA, Laurice Batchelder of Uxbridge, James Batchelder of Webster, Lisa Batchelder of Kossuth, PA and Amy Kinyanjui of Ware; 10 grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Ernest and a sister Rosemary.
Born in Worcester on Jan. 29, 1948 he was the son of Laurice and Evelyn Batchelder and was a resident of Oakwood Nursing Home the last 1½ years. He was raised in Worcester by Edith Chauncy and his father.
Mr. Batchelder was a machinist for Normax Co. in Westborough for many years, retiring in 2002 due to illness. He was educated in the Worcester Public School system and was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He loved music, especially country and western and played as a drummer in several area bands. He loved camping and the outdoors and spending time with his grandkids.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, Nov. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m.
