NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - It was bone-chilling cold, perfect weather for two fishermen who set up their gear on the Mumford River in the Linwood section of Northbridge recently.
Steve Maranda, of Worcester, fishes here because his father lives in Uxbridge. Right now, the ice is about 2 feet deep, he said.
He's been fishing all his life, something he says he can't do without. He admits, though, that as he ages he's not so anxious to get on the ice.
He's looking forward to spring and fishing from the shore or a boat.
