Mosquito Spraying Tonight For Northbridge Parks, Playgrounds After West Nile Found

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Northbridge playgrounds and parks wll be sprayed after 8 p.m. today because West Nile Virus was found in mosquitoes in Northbridge last week.

The Playgrounds and Recreation Committee annnounced the areas to be sprayed will  include the Legion ballfields, the Linwood ballfield, Plummer Park/Skateboard Park, Riverdale ballfield, and Vail field.

Also to be sprayed tonight are the grounds and fields of  Balmer Elementary School, Northbridge Middle School, and Northbridge High School, according to the School Department.

Infected mosquitoes were found at the town's wastewater treatment plant on Providence Road and the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Program sprayed all the streets surrounding that area last Thursday.

All grounds and fields will be open and safe on Friday, officials said.
