NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. -- About 30 children played in dirt on at the Whitinsville Social Library on Thursday.
Participating in an Art With Erin Lewis program, the children created terrariums using one-liter soda bottles, potting soil and small plants.
Lewis is a popular draw to the library during school vacations and the summer with her unique and fun creative projects for children.
The bottles were cut in half and soil was put into the bottom half followed by plants. Slits were made around the edge of the top half of the bottle which created the terrarium's cover.
Watered once, then covered, the plants in terrariums often don't have to be watered again, the plants creating condensation, which constantly waters the plants.
