AUBURN, Mass. - Auburn will once again host the Massachusetts Special Olympic basketball tournament at Auburn High School and is seeking volunteers to help with the event.
The tournament will be held on March 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last year, the event was a success thanks to hundreds of local community volunteers.
The event encourages volunteer participation from church groups, athletic teams, cheering squads, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, local businesses and more.
Each year the Auburn / Webster Elks Lodge donates hundreds of hot meals and the school district's art department creates posters for the athletes to hang in the gymnasium.
Previous volunteers include state Se. Michael Moore, D-Millbury; state Rep. Paul Frost, R-Auburn; Auburn Police Officer Jonathan O'Brien and Auburn Middle School Principal Joseph T. Gagnon.
Interested in becoming a volunteer? Email Kristen Pappas at email@example.com or contact the Auburn Department of Recreation and Culture at 508-832-7736.
