What To Do In Northbridge This Week

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Several government meetings, a demonstration on how to make maple sugar and a breakfast to benefit the Down Syndrome Congress and the Chamber of Commerce's annual Business Expo will keep residents busy this week.

Monday, Feb. 25
Board of Selectmen
: 7 p.m. Memorial Town Hall, 7 Main St., Whitinsville.

Planning Board: 7 p.m. Town Hall Annex, 14 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Income tax assistance: 9 a.m. to noon. AARP tax preparers will be at the senior center, 20 Highland St., from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday through April 1. The service is free. Call 508-234-2002 for more information.

Northbridge Elementary pre-school lottery: To be placed in the lottery, stop at the main office of the school on Cross Street between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The program serves 3- and 4-year-olds.

Tuesday, Feb. 26
Northbridge High School School Budget presentation:
7 p.m. Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Board of Health: 7 p.m. Town Hall Annex, 14 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Red Cross Blood Drive: 3 p.m. Students at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, Pleasant Street, Upton will hold a blood drive from 3 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with its annual John Eldridge Community Fair.

Coffee Break Bible Study: 9:30 a.m. Participants do not have to know anything about the Bible to participate. Programs and child-care provided for pre-school children. Call 508-234-4902 or visit www.pscrc.org. Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Divorce recovery support group: 6:30 p.m. For men and women who are separated or divorced and living single again. A program for children ages 5-12, called DivorceCare for Kids, runs concurrently with the adult program. Free and open to all at Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Conservation Commission meeting: 7 p.m. Town Hall Annex, 14 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Finance Committee meeting: 6 p.m. in Memorial Town Hall, 7 Main St., Whitinsville.

Knitting and Needlework: 6 p.m. New and experienced knitters are invited to join the group at Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St.

Singh Performance Center: 7 p.m. “The Subject Was Roses” will be performed at the Singh Performance Center, 60 Douglas Road at Alternatives’ presented by Pilgrim Soul Productions. Saturday, March 2
Maple sugar demonstration:
11 a.m. Learn how maple syrup is made at River Bend Farm, part of the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak St., Uxbridge from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is free and all ages are welcome. Tours include both indoor and outdoor elements. Call 508-278-7604 for more information.

Charity breakfast: 8 a.m. Knights of Columbus Hall, 77 Prescott St., Whitinsville. The breakfast is from 8 to 11 a.m. Donations to benefit the Down Syndrome Congress and Early Learning Center will be accepted. If you are shut in do to the bad Weather, their is a new 1950's and 1960's Music DJ Show on our weekly Local Cable Channel. Watched it the other night if you are from that era brought back a lot memory's. As the songs start playing you may wish to break out your 'Buster Browns', and 'Pattern Leathers'!
