NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - The week ahead is busy and gives Northbridge residents an opportunity to learn more about the Community Preservation Act, get some help with income taxes or attend a play at Alternatives.

Monday, March 4
Community Preservation Act information meeting:
6 p.m. Mass Audubon’s Shaping the Future of Your Community Program will detail how the Community Preservation Act can help communities preserve open space and historic sites, create affordable housing and develop outdoor recreational facilities at Alternatives, 60 Douglas Road, Whitinsville. Register here. Pizza will be served.

Northbridge Historical Society meeting: 7 p.m. The society will host the authors of "Denholms: The Story of Worcester’s Premier Department Store" at the Whitinsville Social Library, 5 Church St., Whitinsville. The program is free.

Income tax assistance: 9 a.m. to noon. AARP tax preparers will be at the senior center, 20 Highland St., from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday through April 1. The service is free. Call 508-234-2002 for more information.

School Committee meeting: 5:30 p.m. Northbridge High School media center, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Tuesday, March 5
Coffee Break Bible Study
: 9:30 a.m. Participants do not have to know anything about the Bible to participate. Programs and child care provided for pre-school children. Call 508-234-4902 or visit www.pscrc.org. Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Divorce recovery support group: 6:30 p.m. For men and women who are separated or divorced and living single again. A complementary program for children ages 5-12, called DivorceCare for Kids, happens concurrently with the adult program. Free and open to all at Pleasant Street Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Wednesday, March 6
Finance Committee meeting
: 6 pm. The committee meets at Memorial Town Hall, 7 Main St, Whitinsville. The public is invited.

NES Council meeting:3 p.m. The Northbridge Elementary School Council will meet at 3 p.m. at NES, 30 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Balmer School Council meeting: 3 p.m. The council will meet at Balmer School on Crescent Street, Whitinsville.

Northbridge PTA to meet: 7 p.m. The Northbridge Elementary and Balmer School Parent-Teacher Association will meet at the Northbridge Elementary School, 30 Cross St., Whitinsville.

Story and Craft Time: 10 a.m. Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St. Toddlers ages 2 and older. The event is free.

Knitting and Needlework: 6 p.m. New and experienced knitters are invited to join the group at Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St., Whitinsville.

Thursday, March 7
Grade 4 celebration planning meeting
: 7 p.m. All fourth-grade parents of Balmer School students are invited to a planning meeting for the "4th Grade Celebration" at the Whitinsville Social Library, 30 Church Street. Call Lisa at 508-234-2692 for more information.

Story and Craft Time: 10 a.m. Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church St. Toddlers ages 2 and older. The event is free.

Northbridge Special Education Parent Advisory Council : 7 p.m. The council will host a workshop by Robin Foley, assistant vice present of Seven Hills Family Service, at Northbridge High School media center, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.

Building, Planning and Construction Committee meeting: 7 p.m. The committee will meet in Memorial Town Hall, 7 Main St., Whitinsville.

Singh Performance Center
: 7 p.m. “The Subject Was Roses” will be performed at the Singh Performance Center, 60 Douglas Road at Alternatives, presented by Pilgrim Soul Productions. Tickets are $15, $12 for groups
