What To Do In Northbridge This Weekend

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – A 46.5 mile race, a Prescription Drug Take Back Program at the Northbridge Police Department and a tag sale for Operation Graduation highlight activities for Northbridge residents this weekend.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Greenway Challenge Hundreds will run, paddle and bike through the 12th annual Blackstone Valley on Saturday during UniBank’s Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge Adventure Race. The seven-segment 46.5 mile course begins in Cumberland and ends at River Bend farm in the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park on Oak Street, touching many of the historic sites in the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The awards celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. at River Bend Farm.

Prescription Drug Take Back 10 a.m. The Northbridge Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration, will take part in a national “Prescription Drug Take Back Program” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Bring prescription drugs to the Northbridge Police Department, 1 Hope St., Whitinsville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Operation Graduation Tag Sale 8 a.m. Operation Graduation 2013 will hold a tag sale on from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Town Plaza parking lot on Church Street. The money raised in the fundraiser will help fund the annual all-night graduation celebration held for the graduating class of Northbridge High School.
