NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – It’s been a week of downed trees and power outages, but even hurricanes won’t stop the Northbridge Elementary School’s annual Fairy Tale parade on Friday or a 5K run/walk to benefit a scholarship honoring Samantha Prescott, a Northbridge High School student and soccer player who died last year.
Friday, Nov. 2
Fairy Tale parade: 1:15 p.m. Kindergarten students and staff will parade down Cross Street, turn right on Linwood Avenue, go through the park, turn right on Church Street, and go back down Cross Street to Northbridge Elementary School. Students will design their costume to reflect a fairy tale or fable they have studied. Community members along the route, such as at the Senior Center, Sunshine Haven, and Alternatives are invited to watch as the parade goes through the center of town.
RAMS football: 7 p.m. The Northbridge High School Rams football team takes on Auburn High School at Auburn.
Sunday, Nov. 4
5K Run/Walk for SamNation: 9 a.m. Nipmuc Regional High School, 90 Pleasant St., Upton. Registration is at 9 a.m.; the race begins at 10. Cost is $15 and includes entrance to the raffle. Refreshments available. Money raised supports the Sam Nation Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to seniors graduating high school in Massachusetts and honors Samantha Prescott, a Northbridge High School student and soccer player who died a year ago.
