NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - With some residents facing day four without power, the Whitin Communty Center on Main Street is opening its doors and showers to those who need them.

In a CodeRED announcement Wednesday afternoon, Town Manager Theodore Kozak said non-members of the Community Center are welcome to use its shower facilities. Residents should check in with the front desk first, he said.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

About 500 residences remained without power at 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Kozak said National Grid expected to have power restored to most of them sometime Wednesday night.
