NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Allan N. Lightbown, 70, of Colonial Drive, died Thursday, Feburary 28, 2013 at Milford Hospital after a long illness.
He is survived by a sister, Doris M. Ducharme of Whitinsville; two nieces, Lori J. Ducharme and Leigh Heerdt; a great niece, Madison; a great nephew, Colton, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Edward F. "Ted" Lightbown in 2001 and his long time companion Judith A. Haringa who died in 2010.
Born in Whitinsville on June 22, 1942, he was son of the late Norman L. and Florence M. (Blaine) Lightbown and lived here all his life.
Mr. Lightbown worked as an electronic technician for many years at Raytheon Corp. retiring in 2008.
He was a graduate of Northbridge High School Class of 1961 and attended the University of Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Whitinsville Golf Club where he scored three holes in one over the years. He also worked with the youth program at the Whitin Community Center for many years.
His memorial funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville with calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m.
Cremation burial will be held Monday, March 11 at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Allan's memory may be made to the Whitinsville Golf Club, 179 Fletcher St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
