NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Christine M. Drew of Northbridge died Feb. 5 at her home. She was 42.
Drew was the associate director of information services at Worcester Polytechnic Institute since 2004.
She was born March 3, 1970 in Springfield, Mass., to William J. Drew III and Sandra L. Hamborg Drew.
She graduated from Agawam High School in 1988 and earned a bachelor's degree in American literature from Worcester State College in 1992.
Drew earned a master of library science degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 1994. She then spent four years as coordinator of reference and user services at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin and six years as manager of instructional services at Babson College before joining Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
She received many awards and citations for her work and community service, including the Denise Nicoletti Trustees' Award for Service to Community from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2012.
A resident of Northbridge for several years, she loved gardening. She kept bees and chickens with her domestic partner, Jeffrey L. Forgeng, at their home.
She enjoyed art, crafts, jewelry and baking. She was an avid hiker with friends and family and also spent time in the Berkshires summer home with family and friends.
An avid traveler, she recently went to New Orleans, Spain and Alaska with friends and family during her illness.
Drew is survived by her parents; her partner; two brothers, William J. (Monica J.) Drew IV, of South Hadley, Mass., and Robert P. Drew, and his partner, Donna M. Panuccio, of Agawam, Mass.; four nephews; two nieces; two uncles and two aunts.
A memorial event of remembrance for family and friends will be held at a later date. Buma Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
