Lorraine Skillen, 85, Of Northbridge

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Lorraine Departie Skillen of Northbridge died Feb. 5 in Beaumont Nursing Home, after a brief illness. She was 85.

Skillen was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Uxbridge, Mass., to Guillaume and Leona Guertin Departie. She worked at the former Irene's Children's Shop for many years. She bowled for many years in the Women's League.

She and her husband, Philip, enjoyed playing cards, darts and vacations and Friday night dinners with her sister-in-law, Beth, and her husband, Al. She most enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and recently, her great-grandchildren.  

Her husband died in 2008.

She is survived by a son, William (Linda); a sister-in-law, Beth (Al) Hendrickson; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four siblings, Beatrice, Laura, Harvey, and Dorothy.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Carr Funeral Home in Whitinsville. A memorial service will held at 11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
