NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Ellen B. "Nellie" Magrath, 103, formerly of Spring Street, died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at St. Camillus Healthcare after an illness.
She is survived by nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, neighbors, and several close friends. She was sister of the late Dr. George Magrath, Helen R. Magrath,Olive Burgoine, and Edith Rankin.
Born in Whitinsville on November 18, 1908, Nellie was the daughter of George H. and Sarah A. (Bassett) Magrath and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Magrath worked many years as a domestic for the Paul Whitin and E. Kent Swift families of Whitinsville as well as the Stoddard and Higgins Families of Worcester. She retired at 62.
Educated in the Northbridge public school system, Nellie was a quiet woman who was devoted to her family, especially her parents. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister Helen. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Whitinsville.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Linwood Ave. A calling hour will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to the service.
