Obituary: Helen R. Duggan, 93

NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Helen R. Duggan, 93, died on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at St. Camillus Health Center. 

She is survived by several nephews and nieces including Ann Marie and her husband David Hastings of Northbridge, Bill and his wife Claire of Douglas, Joan Jeffers of Whitinsville, Betsy and her husband Alan Bullett of North Adams, Kathleen Charbonneau and her companion Jack Hughes of Whitinsville, and Dick and his wife Nancy Haggerty of Sutton; 11 great nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers Paul and Edward Duggan and two sisters Margaret “Peg” Small and Mary Haggerty all of Whitinsville; two nephews James and Jack Haggerty both of Whitinsville. 

Born in Whitinsville on Nov. 28, 1918 she was the daughter of Michael P. and Catherine T. (Brosnahan) Duggan and lived here all of her life.  She was a graduate of Northbridge High School and worked at the former Whitin Machine Works and then ATF Davidson in the payroll department for 47 years before her retirement at age 65. 

Helen enjoyed walking, baking, vacationing with friends in Main and Cape Cod.  She was also an accomplished knitter. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and the Northbridge Seniors.  She was also a member of St. Patrick’s Church. 

The family would like to thank St. Camillus Health Center and the Evercare staff for all their care and support.  A special thank you to the Nurse Practitioner Kimber Bouchard for all of her special attention.

Her funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St. Whitinsville.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. will be on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Camillus Activity Fund, 447 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA  01588.
