Obituary: Richard Laba, 66

WHITINSVILLE, Mass. - Richard Laba, 66, of Providence Road, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 10 at Milford Regional Medical Center. 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret C. (Cichonski) Laba and many friends. 

He was predeceased by four sisters Helen, Mildred, Genevieve, and Agnes; four brothers Walter, Adam, Joseph, and Thaddeus. 

Born in Poland on Feb. 7, 1946 he was the son of Velenty and Katarzyna (Wojtala) Laba and has lived in Whitinsville for over 40 years.  He was an assistant foreman at the Worcester Gear Co. for 40 years, retiring in 2004.  Richard enjoyed his cats, gardening, and building.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era as a military police officer.  He was a member of the Polish Veterans in Worcester and St. Patrick’s church.

His graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Providence Rd., Whitinsville.  There are no calling hours.
