NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – A 28-year-old Northbridge man was treated for a stab wound at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester that he said he sustained in the New Village section of Northbridge on Monday night, police said Tuesday.

A resident of Overlook Street told police in a call at about 9:54 p.m. that a man was at her door claiming he had just been stabbed in the woods, Detective John Ouillette said.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, told officers he was approached from behind and stabbed by someone who he was unable to identify. “He told investigating officers that he did not get a good look at his alleged assailant,” Ouillette said.

He was taken by Northbridge ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and later released.

“The matter remains under investigation. At this time, we are not releasing specific information about the victim other than he is a resident of the New Village section of Whitinsville and he is known to the Northbridge police,” Ouillette said.
