NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Election workers in Northbridge were hoping at 2:30 p.m. Monday that business would pick up in the hours between dinner and the close of the polls at 8 p.m.
At 11 a.m., Assistant Town Clerk Linda Zywien said less than 100 voters had cast ballots in the special election that seeks to exempt a Department of Public works proposal from Proposition 2 1/2.
The polls opened at 7 a.m., but icy rain and slippery roads likely kept early-morning voters away, officials said.
The town's four precincts vote at Northbridge High School, 427 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville.
