NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Northbridge Middle School Lego League members took home two awards in a competition against 60 other teams at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Upton on Nov. 17.
Teams were judged on technical choices in their robot, teamwork, their team project idea and their obstacle course runs.
The Lego group came home with two trophies.
One team consisting of Peter Dupruis, Jake Gogolinski, Curt Gogolinski and Nathan Lamberson earned first place for teamwork.
Another team, with Jacob Bliss, Casey Gosselin, Alison Colon and Andrew Hahn, won a trophy for determination.
One of the highlights of the event was when a Northbridge team placed in the top half of the rankings for the afternoon elimination rounds.
The busy Lego group participated in several events last month. On Nov. 8, they hosted a well-attended Robot Family Night. In the auditorium, the four Lego teams presented their robots, ran them through the obstacle table and talked about their Lego League projects.
During school lunches, the Lego League ran a raffle fundraiser for 10 donated prizes. Winners came away with Lego kits; iTunes, Target and Walmart gift cards; and a movie bucket.
The league raised $198, which will be used to support next year’s competition.
