NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – While students enjoy a summer away from the classroom, parents are being asked by the Northbridge Parent-Teacher Association to click and raise money for schools.
Avery, an office supply company, is sponsoring its third annual Avery Give Back to Schools promotion, giving away Box Tops for Education, school supplies and gift cards to participating schools that get the most support from their communities.
That support comes from a daily keyboard click.
“All people have to do is sign up with a valid email and vote daily. A few clicks a day could help two schools and over 800 students and the faculty," said PTA Executive Board Member Jenne Siemaszko.
The top five schools will receive 25,000 Box Tops, $10,000 in Avery school supplies and $1,000 in gift cards. The top 25 will receive 10,000 Box Tops. And 10 randomly-selected schools with more than 100 votes will receive 5,000 Box Tops.
As of Thursday morning, Northbridge Elementary Schoo/Balmer School ranks 82nd, and Northbridge Middle School ranks 1,964.
“When we started late May/early June, we (NES/Balmer) were ranked 1,080. Thanks to some hard work spreading out the word, and responses, we have moved up in the ranks,” Siemaszko said
“Our main goal is to be ranked top five,” she continued. “If we do this, we earn valuable prizes for both the NES and Balmer School. It all goes directly back to the teachers and students. It's the cheapest fundraiser.”
The Balmer and Northbridge Elementary School PTA pay for special events and activities during the school year, among them the fourth-grade end-of-school celebration.
