I've followed up my above thoughts with a Purdey shotgun associate and he said that there are gun collectors that own more then 1500 guns and it is common for many to own more than 100 guns.
Like shoes, it is common for those into guns to own more then one.

I disagree. He may "own" seven guns and the bullets that go with them, which makes up all those counts. But, that to me is not a "stockpile". My dad had 4 guns, he liked them and I'm sure for others owning 7 is desirable.
Would one say that if a person owned 7 pairs of shoes that, that is a stockpile?

1997 to 2013 is equal to at least 15 summers of which our towns street sweeper was used for 12,562 miles or 837 miles per year. At an average driving speed of 8 mph, that means the street sweeper is used about 100 hours per year, or for 2.5 weeks on the day shift.
I believe the proposed 2014 budget includes a street sweeper lease agreement for $50,000 per year or at a cost of use of $57 per mile, before labor and fuel.
Grafton is getting ripped off with this lease, based upon the data.
And I won't even get into the logic of selling a underused vehicle for under $15K and replacing that with a forever operating expense lease of $50K annually.
Who's the winner here? The Bud-man who bought a street sweeper for under $15K or Grafton who now is on the lease hook for a similar vehicle for $50K per year?
Literally, the Bud-man could sweep our streets 2.5 weeks per year and pocket $35K in his first year and $50K every year thereafter. View Comment
Re: You said stolen? How do you know those guns were stolen? Those were the words used by an X-wife and passed on to you by the G.P.D. No court has determined stolen guns.
Even the police words were coy as to "stolen". I don't even think the word alleged was used in the sentence, they just restated the X-wifes allegation. And now you believe that, plus your word "stockpiled" is again hyperbole.
My big point here is: The police need to be professional about their business and not advertise and then move on.

Anthony Salerno, an X-State Trooper has got this right. The tar and feather show is hyperbole. There always seemed to me to be a story under this story that the G.P.D. was publishing, and that story will come out in court. That's why we have courts; to be fair.
I feel, it's not our police department's job to publicly promote one sided evidence. In this case it seemed self promoting to me.
They should enforce the law, be professional, stay neutral, and move on.
I know this was a SWAT case, but that too may have been an overreaction to a father, son, long time divorced wife fight.
In the end, I'm glad that everyone is safe, the police did a great job at protection of life and that's a good thing. View Comment

I didn't do their churches. A couple of museums; Anne Frank and Van Gogh at the Hermitage and then a lot of street walking. I was only there for a long weekend.
As for the churches, I've been thru probably enough in Europe. They're over the top, magnificent and dark at the same time. View Comment
Where in my words do you get the understanding that I'm crying about medical pot? Where in my words am I talking about tax revenues?
The reality is, if pot has a medical purpose, then it should be dispensed to those that it will help, by a trained pharmacist!

If pot is to be used as a medicine, then it should be dispensed as a medicine at our local pharmacies.
But if the State goes against traditional medical dispensing of medicinal pot, then I'm sure the town's new experimental open zoning policy in South Grafton will become our town's little Amsterdam. View Comment

I believe the picture is from an old town meeting. My memory of that town meeting was; that he was articulate and on point, smart, that was my first impression.

He's a democrat and like most democrats; like Obama they love to spend my money in their name. Obama got a huge tax increase just 7 weeks ago and now he wants to raise taxes again. That's silly stuff. I just want them to earn their votes, instead of buying their votes with my money. View Comment

I understand the new super park has a price tag above $1 million. Maybe the Selectmen would like to defer the May town meeting vote and that's why they are re-questioning the location.
If I remember out loud I think the Selectmen have put the town on the hook for big $ repairs at the municipal center and they might need some reserve $ if things don't add up the way they claimed. View Comment
