Then we do disagree Bubbly. Many accidents (and/or crimes) happen with vehicles but we work together to limit them and make adjustments as we go. No better example than drunk driving.
Assault weapons are falling into the wrong hands and being used in acts of terrorism. We can do better to limit (not eliminate) the availability and protect the 2nd amendment at the same time. Just like we can do more to address mental health issues, troubled youths, etc.
As for this story--I'm thankful one more AK-47 is out of circulation! View Comment
Bubbly--must have been a weak moment on your part. While I don't always agree with you, I typically appreciate and respect your thoughts and point of view. That said-these two analogies are beneath you. View Comment
Maybe--but I don't buy the father becoming a hero by preventing his son from getting his illegal AK-47. The guy is a criminal for having it in the first place. This the exact type of household that exemplifies the need to reduce the number of automatic weapons. I'm thankful we have one more out of circulation! View Comment
Bubbly-Respect everything you said and thanks for the education until "brat kid". How is this a "brat kidd"-we don't know anything but based on the use of a bat and hammer escalating violence seems like a real possibility. I applaud the kid for eliminating the risk and hope the two of them figure out a way to work things out. View Comment
Who said it would save the world? Do some investigation yourself before mocking a point--you will see it was one example being discussed with Bubbly. By the way-3 seconds could save a lot of lives. View Comment
So let's tell the parents of New Town that we're not willing to consider limiting assualt weapons in order to ensure one can protect themselves from a pack of 24 Coyote. View Comment
Simply put-because now X times 10000 round magazines are available to everyone. Presumably, I'm not worried about you. Enjoyed the discussion as well! View Comment
Long way away from single shots and black powder. Not far away from grenade launchers either. Your definition of need or right absolutely impacts the saftey and well being of my family, so I have justifiable position as well. We live in a society with vested interests in each other. View Comment
Do you really think you will need 30 rounds to protect yourself someday? Based on the dialogue, you clearly have experience with guns and there is no way you'll need 30 rounds. You may want 30 rounds for some kicks on a range, but you don't need them to protect yourself. Sorry-I just don't share your paranoia. You may be right and say I told you so at my wake some day, but I just don't have it. Not saying I'm right-I just don't get it.
Maybe LaPeirre said that-but he starts with blaming everything else and foaming of the mouth I get a little distracted. Have been to the NRA website-all about absolute protection of 2nd amnendmet-call to arms bravado with very little about gun saftey. Saftey mentioned 38 seconds into a 53 second marketing trailer. On his property and "cleared" of wrong doing. You can look into the rest. Doesn't have a great hook to the assualt weapon discussion so I kind of took us on a tangent, but I do wonder if the excitement of using the gun was involved. In this case-my pellet gun would be perfect. As my old boss would say "he took a hammer to a nat".
End of the day, clearly this guy retired too early-he needs the action! His resume would lend itself to be a perfect candidate for the NRA's call for armed gaurds in schools. Would you say he's just the right guy for the job? I would say he is way to trigger happy and am not comforted with the thought of this guy walking around my kids' school. View Comment
I would rather have someone reload 3 10s than have one 30.
You really need to put that many holes in a dirtbag? Scary. I'll do fine with my pellet thanks.
Again--MA is one thing-I travel a lot.
Then let's pursdue these limits more aggressively. but the NRA will fight that as well. Think LaPierre will go for more inforcement or tougher sentencing. View Comment
Apparently he had the right to protect his live stock. He had two rabbits in a pen and suggested the dog was stressing them out. Fired a warning shot and then took the dog down in what looked like a pretty residential neighborhood.
Fair point on the gun type, I'm not sure the gun type mattered? If it was a 22, I'm not suggesting we ban that. I do wonder if he did what he did out of a need to use the AR15 but who knows? As a suspect a guy like this would have a 22, why didn't he use that? Just as a side note: Also took the shots from his bedroom window. Why get out of bed to get rid of the dog when you can use an AR15! View Comment
We have certainly strengthened laws to help prevent drunk driving over the years which has helped save lives. Hasn't prevented drunk driving completely, but certainly tougher laws, more awareness and precautions has saved lives.
Don't get your Police story-What does that have to do with limiting assualt weapons? View Comment
Not inclined to define because people like you nitpick the terminology. But I will start-how about banning clips that hold more than 10 rounds? If you need more than 10 rounds to protect your family you shouldn't have a gun to begin with. As for me, I'll get someone out of my house with my pellet gun.
To your car analogy-we don't let Indy cars on the pike. Limits help control not prevent completely. View Comment
