Wilton Girl Scout Earns Gold Award For Healthy Eating Workshop For Kids WILTON, Conn. — Cecilia Babchak of Wilton has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.Babchak's Gold Award Project was called “Creating Healthy Kids” and consisted of a three-day nutritional workshop for fourth-grade students in Wilton. During the workshop, she taught the students about nutrition and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, including tips and tricks on hydration, healthy snacking and how to read a nutrition label. Greenwich Girl Scout Earns Gold Award For Teaching Kids About Recycling GREENWICH, Conn. — Annabel Lindh of Greenwich has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.To earn her Gold Award, Lindh educated elementary school students in her community about how to adopt good recycling habits. At the end of the lesson, she gave out a quiz, and nearly all of the students got all of the answers correct. She also published facts in the school’s newsletter. Women Work Together To Feel Fit At Brookfield Exercise Studio BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Six days a week at Feeling Fit on Federal Road in Brookfield, about a dozen women can be found exercising to the beat of fast-paced music. Rollover Truck Crash Causes I-95 Gridlock For Hours Traffic was tied up for hours after a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-95 between exits 17 and 18 in Westport, Conn., at about noon Saturday, according to the Westport Fire Department. The accident involved a pickup truck and a heavy-duty bucket truck towing a woodchipper, Westport Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Lombardi said. The bucket truck rolled onto its side in the accident, Lombardi said. Westport Fire Department personnel were on the scene for almost two-and-a-half hours, he said. New Sandy Hook School In Newtown Prepares To Welcome Students After Tragedy NEWTOWN, Conn. -- After nearly four years away, the students at Sandy Hook Elementary School are finally back where they belong — in Newtown. Ridgefield Girl Scout Installs Little Free Library To Earn Silver Award RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Take a book, return a book. That's the motto of 14-year-old Juliette Castagna's Girl Scout Silver Award project. For her project, Juliette installed a Little Free Library at the Ridgefield Recreation Center's playground. The Silver Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout ages 11 to 14 can earn. A Little Free Library is a small structure that holds books for people of all ages. Its goal is to inspire reading.
