Lauren Kidd Ferguson began her journalism career in 2004 as a statehouse reporter for Gannett New Jersey. She was a member of a team that covered state government and politics for seven daily newspapers throughout New Jersey. Her coverage of the McGreevey administration and young voters earned her the New Jersey Press Association’s award for best rookie reporter in the state. Lauren also served as a reporter for Gannett’s flagship New Jersey paper, the Asbury Park Press. She covered communities along the Jersey Shore, and won investigative reporting awards for writing about police brutality in Seaside Park. She has also worked as a speechwriter and spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, as well as a communications manager for Children’s Rights, a national advocacy organization that uses the law to reform foster care systems. Lauren graduated from the College of New Jersey. She grew up in Ringwood, and now calls Waldwick home. She believes everyone has a story to tell, and she’d love to hear yours.

Members of the Wyckoff PBA shaved their beards this month, after spending October growing their facial hair for their “Beards for Becca” campaign. They were helping Rebecca, also known as Becca Boo, raise money for Tackle Kids Cancer. Linares, U.S. District Judge for the District of New Jersey, is scheduled to be a guest speaker on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The program, which begins at 1 p.m. is free and open to the public. Linares is slated to discuss his career in law and his time as a judge, and will also field questions. Linares is a judge at the Federal Courthouse in Newark, and is the first Hispanic to hold the position. Born in Havana, Cuba, he and his family escaped to the United States in 1965 when he was 12. The library is hosting a craft day on Saturday, Nov. 12. Local children are invited to drop in at the library any time between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to create a Thanksgiving craft. Election Results: Wayne Voters Reject Full-Day Kindergarten WAYNE, N.J. – For the second year in a row, Wayne voters rejected a referendum to implement full-day kindergarten, leaving the township as the only in Passaic County without such a program. With 39 of the township’s 41 voting districts accounted for at 12:17 a.m., the tally was 11,226 no votes and 8,446 yes votes.
