Danbury Pays Tribute To The Past As It Unveils 'Hat Maker' Monument DANBURY, Conn. -- About 100 people gathered outside City Hall on Monday afternoon for the unveiling ceremony of a monument created by a New Fairfield sculptor that pays tribute to Danbury's Hatting days. The 14-foot bronze and steel monument, named the "Hat Maker," was created by David Boyajian, an adjunct professor of art at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. The statue was commissioned by Union Savings Bank to mark its 150th anniversary in Connecticut. 2 Trumbull Firefighters Graduate In Training School's Spring Class TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Firefighters Sam Atkins and Ryan Hongo of the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company graduated from the Valley Fire Chief's Regional Fire Training School's Spring Firefighter I Class. This class is the entry-level certification in the fire service, giving students the knowledge and skills to be interior qualified firefighters.  The class is about 160 hours, including intensive classroom lectures, as well as numerous practical skill days.  Completion of this class qualifies both members to sit for the state practical and written exams in the coming weeks.  Photo caption: From le…
