Nyack's LGBT Community Responds To Orlando Tragedy With Resolve, Hope
NYACK, N.Y. -- When a gunman mowed down dozens of innocent people in Orlando on Sunday, he struck directly at the heart of Nyack’s LGBT community, according to a report by lohud.com.
Hundreds turned out in the Rockland village’s downtown Thursday for a candlelight vigil mourning victims of the Pulse night club massacre, lohud.com reported.
One of the 49 people slain was Shane Tomlinson, who grew up in Ramapo, media reports said.
Nyack, known for its open-mindedness and acceptance of the LGBT community, had one of New York’s first openly gay mayors.
