Home Explosion Rocks Quiet North Jersey Neighborhood An unoccupied home in Westfield was destroyed following a fiery explosion on Monday evening, July 29, authorities said. At 10:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a home on the 100 block of Tudor Oval and found the structure ablaze with evidence of an explosion, the Westfield Fire Department said in a release. Debris was scattered around the area, firefighters said. Firefighters said they transported a second alarm at 10:23 p.m., requesting additional units to assist with containing the blaze. Man Sexually Assaulted Co-Worker: Secaucus PD A 48-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, July 24 with sexually assaulting a co-worker in Secaucus in May, authorities said. On Friday, May 3, Christopher White sexually assaulted his co-worker in the back of their truck at a business location on Enterprise Avenue, Secaucus police said. Following an investigation, White was taken into custody in Kearny and charged with sexual assault, authorities said. He was transported to the Hudson County Jail, police said.

6 Charged In Luxury NJ Car Thefts: Prosecutor Five men and one juvenile were recently arrested and charged with numerous residential and vehicle burglaries in Somerset County, authorities said. In October 2023, broke into a Bernards Township home through a rear sliding window and stole a 2023 Mercedes Benz, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald announced. East Orange Man Killed In Shooting: Prosecutor A 33-year-old East Orange man was fatally shot on the evening of Friday, July 26, authorities said. Around 8 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of South Munn Avenue and found Kenyaitte Crute shot, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and East Orange Police Chief Phyllis Bindi said. Crute was transported to University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Stephens and Bindi said. Jersey City Man Gets 17 Years For Strangling Girlfriend: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced on Thursday, July 25 to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to strangling a 27-year-old woman in 2021, authorities said.
