Man Killed After Crashing Into Tree At Cummings Park In Stamford, Police Say
An 80-year-old man was killed after crashing into a tree at a popular park in Fairfield County.
The fatal crash took place in Stamford around 1:50 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20 inside Cummings Park on Shippan Avenue.
During the crash, a 2019 Subaru, which was being operated by the Stamford resident, was traveling eastbound through the park when he failed to negotiate a curve, then sped up, drove through a small parking lot, then struck a tree, said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, of the Stamford Police.

Area Man Charged With Burglarizing Beer World Twice, Police Say
An area man was busted following an investigation into allegedly burglarizing Beer World twice last month.
Sullivan County resident Justus L. McMoore, age 37, of Monticello, was charged on Friday, Dec. 16, with two counts of grand larceny and petit larceny, said Lt. Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police.
McMoore is accused of illegally entering the Beer World store at 77 Pleasant St., in Monticello on Friday, Nov. 4, and stealing $821.45 worth of items, Johnstone said.
Several days later, on Monday, Nov. 7, Johnstone said he entered the store again and stole $2,828.20 worth of items.

Mastermind Of Hudson Valley Brinks Heist That Left 3 Dead Released From Prison
The man behind the 1981 Brinks robbery that left two Hudson Valley police officers and an armored car guard dead has been released from federal prison for health reasons.
Mutulu Shakur, age 72, most famously known for being the stepfather of slain rapper Tupac Shakur, was granted release by the US Parole Commission on Friday, Dec. 16, due to a terminal illness, according to multiple news reports.
Shakur was serving a 60-year sentence, for the Rockland County incident that happened on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1981 in Nanuet.
