Police Asking For Help Identifying Holbrook Hit-Run Driver That Killed Local Man Police on Long Island are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the driver who fled the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash last month. The crash took place in Holbrook around 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19 on Veterans Memorial Highway at Grundy Avenue, said the Suffolk County Crime Stopper and Suffolk County Police. Alan Lepre, age 59, of Holbrook, was walking home from work when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Veterans Memorial Highway, police said. Lepre was pronounced dead at the scene. 3 Men, 1 Woman Nabbed During Prostitution Sting In Area, State Police Say State and local police busted three men and a woman for patronizing prostitutes during a sting operation in the area. The joint operation took place in Orange County in the city of Middletown on Thursday, Dec. 8. CT's First Adult-Use Recreational Marijuana Sales To Begin In January At These Dispensaries The first recreational-use, hybrid marijuana dispensaries are set to open in Connecticut in January. The state Department of Consumer Protection said on Friday, Dec. 9, that eight licensed hybrid retailers will be allowed to open their doors at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2023, depending on local zoning hours. “I am proud of the hard work our team has done to meet the goal of opening adult-use sales in a safe, well-regulated market,” said DCP Commissioner Michelle Seagull. Know Them? Cops Searching For Stamford Smoke Shop Burglars Police in Fairfield County are investigating a commercial burglary at a smoke shop by two men. The burglary took place in Stamford around 5:35 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Landmark Smoke Shop at 118 Broad St. According to Sgt. Route 9W Closure Planned In Rockland County A section of Route 9W in Rockland County will be closed to traffic in both directions for road repairs this weekend. CT Man Charged With Driving Wrong Way On Highway While High On Drugs A Connecticut man has been charged with allegedly driving the wrong way on a highway while high on drugs, causing a crash. Freeport Man Charged In Connection With Bethpage Overdose Death A Long Island man has been charged in connection with an overdose death of an area resident. Nicholas S. Leroy, age 30, of Freeport, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 8, following a fatal overdose in Bethpage. According to Nassau County Police Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, an investigation into a fatal overdose of an area resident led to the arrest of Leroy who was in possession of controlled substances. Man Sentenced To Prison For Forcing Teen To Perform Oral Sex in Ossining A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to prison for forcing a teen to perform oral sex at gunpoint in a Northern Westchester County parking lot.
