Details Released In Snowmobile Crash That Killed Ridgefield Park Officer Steven Fernandez
The Ridgefield Park Police Department is mourning the loss of Steven Fernandez, a very well-liked officer who was killed in a snowmobiling accident over the weekend.
Fernandez, 39, of Saddle Brook, was heading west on snowmobiling trails in Harriestown, NY, when he lost control, left the trail, and traveled down a steep embankment, and struck multiple trees around 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, New York State Police said.

A man who assaulted a member of the LGBTQ+ and recorded it on his phone in Washington, DC, will spend more than a year behind bars after being convicted of the crime earlier this year, federal officials announced.
Anthony Duncan, of Washington, DC, was sentenced on Tuesday, May 9 to 18 months in prison after he was found guilty of assault with significant bodily injury on Monday, Feb. 27, for assaulting a pedestrian in May 2022.
