Newtown Historical Society, Matthew Curtiss House Sponsor Open House NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The Newtown Historical Society's Matthew Curtiss House is sponsoring an open house on Sunday, May 15, from noon to 4 p.m. Costumed docents will be available to lead tours through the Matthew Curtiss House, home of the Newtown Historical Society. Participants are also free to walk through the house on their own. The Matthew Curtiss is an example of colonial saltbox architecture, and is one of the oldest buildings on Main Street. Danbury Named 21st Most Diverse City In America DANBURY, Conn. -- In a recent study from personal finance outlet Wallet Hub, Danbury was named the 21st Most Diverse City in America. The analysts compared demographic profiles from 313 of the largest cities in America. Their data came from social class diversity, ethno-racial diversity, economic diversity and household diversity. FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The Democrats latest state budget proposal now up for a vote in the state legislature takes aim at state aid to towns and public school districts in an effort to close a nearly $1 billion shortfall. Newtown Woman Helps Build Homes In Nicaragua For Poor Families NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown resident Diana Sarna recently returned from a spending week in Nicaragua, where she helped to build homes for poor families through a program called Bridges to Community. Sarna traveled to Nicaragua with a group of students and fellow staff members from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, N.Y., where she teaches English. Students raised most of the cost of the trip through a car wash and silent auction, and also received donations from local businesses.
