Teacher With Gun, Underage Drinking Bust Top The Week's News In Bridgeport FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Here's a look at the top stories in Fairfield County this week: Alfonso Reid, 39, of Bridgeport, was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old student from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. Stamford Man Charged With Having Check Forgery Operation Inside Car STAMFORD, Conn. -- Police said a Stamford man was caught Thursday night with a check forgery operation inside his car, according to a story in the Stamford Advocate. He is suspected by police of being involved in a fraud ring, reported the Stamford Advocate. Last month, Bank of America complained about a man depositing forged checks in local ATM machines and withdrawing the money from various accounts before they were found to be fake, the Stamford Advocate said. Heroin Overdose Victim Gets Revived In Newtown By Narcotics Antidote NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown police used an antidote for narcotics overdose for the first time last weekend, according to a story in the Newtown Bee.An officer administered the drug to a heroin overdose victim, reviving him and averting the man’s potential death, according to the Newtown Bee. Police received a call from a Dodgingtown residence April 2, alerting them that a man in his mid-20s had fallen down and help was needed, the Newtown Bee said. Wilton Board Of Finance Reports 1.9 Percent Mill Rate Increase WILTON, Conn. -- There has been a 1.9 percent increase from the current 26.83 mill rate, said Wilton's Board of Finance at its April 7 meeting, according to a story in the Wilton Bulletin. Large Tree Falls Through Roof Of Monroe Home; No Injuries Reported MONROE, Conn. -- Monroe firefighters and police were called to a single-story home on Williamsburg Drive at 6:50 p.m. Thursday after a large tree fell through the roof of the home.One occupant was home but was not injured. Firefighters worked to remove her dog, which also was not injured. One of the tree limbs penetrated the roof and went right through the kitchen ceiling and floor into the basement.
