Study Names Route 1 Most Dangerous Road In Connecticut For Pedestrians FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A study conducted by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign called "The Region's Most Dangerous Roads for Walking," identified U.S. Route 1 as the most dangerous road in Connecticut for pedestrian fatalities.According to the study, 127 people were killed on Connecticut roads from 2012 through 2014.  The study also reported that in Fairfield County there were 31 pedestrian fatalities from 2012 to 2014. Monroe Budget Approved On Fourth Ballot MONROE, Conn. -- After its first referendum on Tuesday, Monroe’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year passed, according to CT Post.com The $85.1 million budget won by 76 votes, with 1,380-1,304, with three rejected ballots, according to CT Post.com The budget represents a 1.22 percent increase in spending, with schools receiving $54.6 million. This is an increase of 1.55 percent from this year, CT Post.com reported. The budget includes a 1.57 percent tax increase for the 2016-17 fiscal year, CT Post.com reported. Holmes Elementary Students In Darien Learn Cartography At Map It Event DARIEN, Conn. -- First Graders at Holmes Elementary School in Darien recently learned the art of cartography during their Map It! lesson. Instructors from Stamford Museum & Nature Center showed children how to draw maps of Connecticut, which included local rivers, mountains and towns.  The lesson helped develop students' spatial thinking, which is the ability to picture locations of objects and shapes and their relations to each other.
