Rockland Man Injured By Illegal Fireworks, Police Say CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – A July Fourth incident, where fireworks severely injured a local man, is a sobering reminder of how dangerous such pyrotechnic devices can be, say Clarkstown police. Officers and other emergency first responders were called to Hall Avenue in New City around 9:30 p.m. on Monday where they found the unidentified 38-year-old man with extensive burns to his arms and face. Bethel's Firecracker Run Boosts Community Spirit, Aids Charities BETHEL, Conn. -- Hot and sweaty runners in Bethel’s 8K John DeMille Firecracker Road Race got a chance to cool down Monday, thanks to the local fire department. Firefighters set up a hose that sprayed race participants with water as they trotted past. Ramapo Police Say They'll Miss Departing Chaplain RAMAPO, N.Y. -- When parishioners of Sacred Heart in Suffern learned this spring that their longtime pastor was being transferred to another parish, they weren’t the only ones feeling the loss. Rain Temporarily Shuts Fairfield's Lake Mohegan FAIRFIELD, CONN. -- Swimming will be off limits at Lake Mohegan in Fairfield today, July 5, because of possibly elevated bacterial levels. The town's health department, which tests the water at public facilities every week, made the preemptive decision to close the lake after more than 1 inch of rain fell in a 24-hour period.
