9-Year-Old Boy Dies After DWI Crash On Long Island Expressway
A 9-year-old boy who was seriously injured when the car he was a passenger in was hit by an alleged drunk driver on the Long Island Expressway has been declared brain dead, according to a GoFundMe page.
Angel Salis, of Deer Park, was transported to Stony Book University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries after the crash that happened at 1:50 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22 in Farmingville, Suffolk County Police said.

Decomposed Body Found In Connecticut Home ID'd As Ponzi Swindler, Jeffrey Epstein Mentor
A body found in a Connecticut home during a welfare check has positively been identified as Steven Hoffenberg, a longtime mentor of Jeffrey Epstein.
Hoffenberg, the one-time owner of the New York Post and businessman who spent 18 years in prison for a $460 million Ponzi scheme, was found in the New Haven County home around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, in the city of Derby.

Officer Douglas Robinson of the Stamford Police Department died on Wednesday, Aug. 24 surrounded by his family, said Stamford Police Chief Timothy Shaw.

Man Who Killed Two Women In Pelham Released On Parole
The man who killed two women in his Westchester County apartment 36 years ago has been paroled from Green Haven Correctional Facility.
Paul Leon, age 53, formerly of Pelham, was released on Monday, Aug. 22, after having been granted an open date by the Board of Parole following his appearance on Wednesday, Aug. 3, said Rachel Connors of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Leon was 16 years old on July 27, 1986, when he killed Ossining resident Lois Feraca, age 83, and her 49-year-old daughter, Theresa Carbone, by beating and stabbing them.
